We finally get a more in-depth look at the upcoming Frozen 2 movie. Take a look at the new trailer.
The new trailer gives us a deeper look into the story. It begins with King Agnarr, Anna and Elsa’s father, telling them a story about a time when the Northuldra people and Arendelle people roamed the Enchanted Forest. It shows the part of the forest that was blowing some of the new characters up into the air.
King Agnarr loves his family and would do anything to ensure his daughters’ wellbeing and safety Alfred Molina lends his voice to King Agnarr. Queen Iduna, voiced by Evan Rachel Wood, is seen leaving the room with a look of sadness in her eyes.
Magical and larger than life, Elsa is the perfect mythic character—but she can’t help but wonder why she was born with powers. Meanwhile, Anna is the perfect fairytale character—unflappable and forever the optimist. What truths about the past await Elsa and Anna as they venture into the unknown to an enchanted forest far from Arendelle?
Elsa hears a calling and a mysterious force rips through Arendelle. Pink/Red flames and lots of wind carry Sven out the door. Their journey leads them to a mist and a set of four runestones with symbols engraved on them. The mist is what separates everyone from the Enchanted Forest and those trapped inside, including Lt. Mattias.
We then see Elsa using her magic in all-new ways and the group floating by a few rock giants sleeping on the bank. An adorable salamander enjoys a snowflake from Elsa.
There is a pink forest fire similar to the flames we saw in Arendelle. A field full of reindeer that Sven is running with. A little girl, that looks a lot like Anna (the one being thrown into the sky by the wind) holding a baby reindeer as she walks across a bridge. We see the army protecting Arendelle at all costs.
The trailer finishes with the pink flame following Olaf in the woods. Olah looks into the water and sees the water horse and runs away just in time before a boulder hits him.
New Frozen 2 Characters
Honeymaren is a true free spirit and wants nothing more than to bring peace to the enchanted forest. She is bold and brave, with a reverence for the magic of nature. Rachel Matthews provides the voice of Honeymaren.
Ryder – Eager and fun, Honeymaren’s brother Ryder embraces life with optimism. Ryder’s love of reindeer might just rival Kristoff’s – but unlike Kristoff, Ryder has never roamed the great plains outside of the Enchanted Forest. He longs to embrace the world and venture beyond the magical mist. Jason Ritter lends his voice to Ryder.
Yelana – The unspoken leader of the nomadic Northuldra. She is fiercely protective of her family and community but is known to soften when people show an understanding of nature and their environment. Martha Plimpton was called on to bring Yelana to life.
Bruni – Curious and cute, this salamander inhabits the Enchanted Forest. Though shy at first, Bruni can’t help but be drawn to Elsa’s icy magic and enjoys the cool snowflake treats she creates.
Lieutenant Destin Mattias – loyally protected his homeland of Arendelle for years. But, in doing so, he became trapped in an enchanted forest where he’s been for more than 30 years. He’s never forgotten his sworn duty to Arendelle, but the arrival of Queen Elsa and discovery that she has magical powers is just the first of many challenges to his long-held beliefs. Featuring Sterling K. Brown as the voice of Mattias.
Nokk—a mythical water spirit that takes the form of a horse—who uses the power of the ocean to guard the secrets of the forest.
The Northuldra people trapped inside the Enchanted Forest.
Rock Giants – They look like Marshmallow and a larger, more scarier version of the Trolls.
Frozen 2 Theories
There are a few things that stand out to me with both of the trailers we’ve seen so far. Elsa and Anna’s mother plays a vital role in this backstory of how Elsa received her powers. It makes me think that the Northuldra people may be the ones that have magical powers or guard the Enchanted Forest where the powers come from.
Nokk, the water horse looked like he was trying to warn Olaf about the rock giants throwing boulders at him. If he hadn’t scared him from the puddle, Olaf would have been squished.
The runestones are similar to the ones we see in Viking/Nordic culture.
The pink flame seems to be a character just like the Whisps from Brave or the water from Moana were.
I foresee no true villain in this movie and it’s more about different levels of magic that locked people into the Enchanted Forest. While the flame does look scary in one of the scenes, it looks playful like a Whisp in others.
There will be lots of new magic and characters for this movie. The story looks amazing.
Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Frozen 2” opens in U.S. theaters on Nov. 22, 2019.
